Ok, here’s my situation:

I’m a 20 year old male and I’m currently unemployed at the moment. I need some type of free health insurance and I know free money is out there somewhere. I can’t get on my mom’s health insurance plan because I’m not enrolled in college right now. The reason I temporarily need some free health insurance is because I have this really bad tooth abscess in my teeth and it’s been bugging me for awhile. My mom took me to a dental clinic and the dentist ending up telling me I needed a root canal because the roots have gotten infected in the tooth, but they are charging me like crazy and I think a root canal is like 1,000 something dollars. My mom tells me to get it pulled because it’s cheaper but the dentist told me my teeth could shift on me If I had that process done and I didn’t want that. I know there’s a way I can get a discount or something. I called for one for those green cards for unemployed residents at our local Outpatient Clinic here, but they are closed on the weekends. This abscess is really bothering me and it keeps coming back because I don’t have the hole in my tooth closed up and the roots are constally getting infected. I take out some of the infection by guggling my mouth with warm salt water everyonce in awhile. It takes down the swelling but only for a short month or so. I was even subscibed some antibiotics but I feel uncomfortable swallowing pills so they gave me 3 shots in the booty (2 shots of antibiotic fluid and 1 shot for the pain). And when I do TRY to take antibiotic pills, I just chop them up and swallow them that way (childhood memories: I choked on a butterscotch candy when I was little). The temporary filling they put in didn’t last for too long. It fell out after I bit down on a dorito chip. So what do I do? I live in Columbus, Georgia and I just wanted to know if there was a way I could beat around the bush from paying 1,000 dollars for a root canal when I’m currently unemployed.

I’m looking for professional detailed answers only, not no: “just go to the dentist” mess, I know that. So please spare me or you the time! It would really help If I got some answers from real Dentist or someone who knows alot about Finance & Health Insurance. ^_^

You are looking for dental insurance, not health insurance. You can try state Medicaid. Borrow from your family, if need be, or ask to set up a payment plan with the dentist. Do not let that condition go untreated – it could rapidly become worse.

Lower middle income people living in Oregon have a tough time affording insurance. They work hard, pay their bills, but there isn’t enough to buy health insurance and they don’t qualify for the Oregon Health Plan.
My great grand daughter is very ill. Although I am far from rich, this baby, 14 months old is the delight of my heart. She has been in emergency room twice. I will pay, even if I have to sell something, but my question is, I know for a fact that insurance never pays for the total? bill, but when a parent is billed, they are expected to pay the whole bill. (My mom goes to the hospital for a week or more at a time and only pays about $ 115 at the most. Looking at her insurance bill, the insurance does not pay the total, but a fraction of the billing. Why can’t I pay what insurance would pay. It is really hard for lower middle income to keep up with medical expenses. Not poor enough to qualify for aid (and I don’t mind that), but we the young people are not rich enough to have good insurance as many jobs don’t include it in jobs anymore. I know I sound confused, as it is early, but my mind is working overtime trying to figure our what I can do.

Jan, Nick and Miz D, thank you so much. You are good people. I am just one frustrated granny right now. My mom has been ill and hospitalized frequently for blood transfusions. I am in the middle and love them both deeply.

Jewel, I didn’t mean “we” the young people, I was still in bed typing that and I meant they, my grandkids, the young people….no health insurance with his job. Makes enough to pay needed bills and they do not buy anything not needed with the economy like it is. Sorry I wrote the question when I was so tired. Everyone else was so nice.

How can i cancel the group insurance plan that my employer is providing becasue my indian company enrolled me for their group health insurance plan and told that once you enroll, untill their is any reasonable reason you cannot cancel it. How can i cancel it now ? They cut 940 dollars.

You can’t, until open enrollment.

You need to have a qualifying event. The only qualifying event to delete a child, is the death of the child.

This is an IRS regulation – tax law. It’s not your employer, and it’s not your insurance company.

I need to get health insurance for me and my 1 year old daughter. I am planning on becoming, or possibly already am pregnant but need insurance for us. Any help? This is in CT, so it is a state that does not require individual policies to cover pregnancy.

you can do a search for health care in CT and see what comes up with that. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield, but I live in Oklahoma so I do not know if that will help. They do have pretty good plans though. Also you might see about a company called Metlife.

my policy has an annual $ 5,000 deductible, but larger ones are available if you wish.

Few would be willing to dish out for private coverage while they are receiving health care from government taxation. Would the private health industry perhaps dwindle down to a few big players and be forced to take a hit by improving coverage and care?
I’m well aware health care won’t be nationalized. I meant to indicate this is a hypothetical question.

I am trying to get on an individual health insurance plan, but I have no idea what deductables are or how they work, I just want to know how much it will cost me to go to the dr?
